Ant-Man and the Wasp are pulled into the Quantum realm to face a new and terrifying threat.

What’d we think?

Quantumania feels like a real departure from the tone of the previous Ant-Man films, and not for the better. The movie is formulaic but still very fun, and while I was never bored I wasn’t exactly feeling much of anything else. The movie’s biggest strength lies in its performances, Paul Rudd is as delightful as ever, and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet is given quite a bit to do (and absolutely kills it) as a woman who finds herself back in the last place she wants to be. My main man Jonathon Majors’ turn as Kang is the standout performance of the movie however, setting himself up as the next Big Bad of the MCU – a man burdened by knowing how everything ends, and quite literally at war with himself.

Much like how we’re informed of Kang’s terrifying nature instead of witnessing it, the movie is telling us that it’s setting up the next phase of the MCU without ever quite feeling like it. I had fun, and while I was hoping for a little more of that Marvel magic, I’d still definitely recommend checking it out.
