What’s it about?
Fiona Maye is a work-obsessed high court judge. As she pours herself into her career duties it becomes increasingly obvious that her personal life is not being… sustained.
What we thought
Dan Beeston says: I mean… it’s Emma Thompson! She’d be engaging reading DVD blurbs of all the other movies I’ve reviewed for the site. Here she is in her element, a buttoned-down repressed English judge fighting her own surging emotions, and she’s at her best. The casting and acting is fantastic, and the cinematography grabs you by the lapels, pulls you close and dares you, f***ing DARES YOU to look away.
